NESTling Needs WishlistAssets in Action
The Georgetown Project NEST Empowerment Center is a safe haven after the bell rings that offers basic needs, life-skills training, academic and enrichment support for GISD high school students who are homeless, at-risk or unaccompanied.

A Safe Haven for GISD High School Students
The NEST Empowerment Center offers GISD high school students – especially those at risk, homeless or unaccompanied youth – a
soft place to land after the bell rings. Attending students receive access to school supplies, homework help, life skill training, hot meals, therapeutic programming and more.
- 1
Basic Needs
The NEST is able to provide GISD high school students with access to basic needs, such as food, personal hygiene and school supplies, clothing and other necessities.
- 2
Life Skills
Students attending the NEST have opportunities to explore important life skills, like cooking, learning about exciting occupations and interacting with generations and groups unlike themselves, during daily programming.
- 3
Therapeutic Programming
Through planned programming, the NEST provides students opportunities to explore their emotions, express themselves and learn to regulate their own emotions — all in the comfort of a trauma informed space.
